Google Adwords Qualified Individual
I recently had the chance to take the Google Adwords certification tests, this qualification would allow me to start managing PPC advertising campaigns for clients. I could have managed accounts without this certification but having this qualification seemed more legitimate. The qualification consists of one fundamental exam (2 hours long and 113 questions) and one Advanced Search Advertising exam (2 hours and 109 questions), Oh yeah and each test cost $50. So after what seemed liked endless hours of studying I finally have this to show for it…….
BOOM!
I also now have this nifty little profile that I can show off:

Cafe Mono in Pacific Beach
This is my second visit to this cool little spot on Mission Blvd. in San Diego. I found this place by accident about a month ago, I was looking to do some reading and grab a coffee since it was a warm winter day in San Diego but the first couple places I went ended up being closed. I saw this little place called Cafe Mono that had a little patio that looked like a good spot to sit and dive into a book. I felt like I needed to order something since I was using their patio so I order the roast beef sandwich since the chef recommended I try it, and I am glad he did because it was amazing. I made a return visit yesterday for lunch and snapped this photo of the pastrami sandwich. I highly recommend this place if you are in the beach communities of San Diego, so far everything Ive had here was awesome. They are located at 3833 Mission Blvd. San Diego, CA 92109
Something New
I’ve lived in San Diego for almost six years now and I’ve seen seen this pier numerous times. I thought it was such a touristy thing to walk out onto it but I had never done it for some reason. This weekend I ran to the beach with my girlfriend and we decided to walk out to the pier and do something new since neither of had ever done it. Since I have recently become addicted to instagram I decided to snap a couple pictures on the way out.
The pier is lined with small vacation rentals for the first few hundred feet of the walk out to the end.
At the end of the pier we stopped to watch a group of surfers try to catch some waves on the rather sunny winter afternoon in Southern California. The Coast line of Northern Pacific Beach and La Jolla set a nice backdrop for this shot.
San Jose Sharks Vs. The Anaheim Ducks: Jan 4, 2012
I had a great time last night watching my San Jose Sharks beat the Ducks in Anaheim with a final score of 3-1. The game started off with the ducks taking the lead and absolutely owning the first period. The second period was all sharks. They score two goals with in minutes of each other and never looked back. It never gets old watching these teams duke it out and it was also the first NHL game I have ever been to that wasn’t at the “tank” in San Jose. The tickets were a Christmas present from my girlfriend which was an awesome surprise. Great night, great game…GO SHARKS!
2011
I couldn’t help but notice that this year is winding down and I got to thinking about all the crazy and wonderful things that have happened over these past twelve months. This year was most definitely a year of learning and that has turned out to be one of the best Ive had in a long time. I feel as though I am in a good place in my life right now and I wanted to reflect on the past year’s events.
It had to be around this time last year that I got a fortune cookie that read:
I am not a big believer in this kind of stuff but for some reason I put this thing behind the cover of my cell phone and Ive had it there ever since.
2011 started off a little rocky, I was headed into my final semester of college and started to wonder what I would do after graduation. I got into some what of a panic and decided I needed to do something with my life. I started applying to internships left and right hoping for something that would give me some experience in the marketing field I could use after graduation. After two months of hunting and interviews I was lucky enough to land an internship with High Rank Websites, an awesome marketing company located here in San Diego. Landing an internship was a great feeling but I knew that I was in for a long spring semester.
My last semester at SDSU consisted of me performing a balancing act between classes, projects, the internship, work and trying to savor every last bit of my college experience that I could. I had some very memorable experiences during that final stretch of school and I wouldn’t trade any of the headaches and stress for anything because being a “work-horse” paid off in the end.
Graduation came in May and it was great to have my family watch me walk across the stage and accept my diploma as a college graduate, but the greatest satisfaction came when I was able to tell my parents that the Monday after graduation I would be a full time employee of High Rank Websites Inc. Not many students in this economy were able to have a job lined up right after graduation so I think my parents were most proud of that accomplishment.
Turns out that silly little fortune cookie was right.
The last half of this year was just as awesome as the first half. Ive had my fair share of fun including an epic weekend at the Stagecoach music festival, a couple of relaxing trips to the lake, and even a few to Sin City. In July my new job took me to Seattle for the first time, which was a great experience, and I recently made a very long overdue trip to my old stomping grounds.
2011 brought me closer to an amazing girl, who became not only my girlfriend, but one of my best friends at the same time. Her drive, passion, and charisma make her one of the most intriguing people I have ever met. I’m glad she was there to share in all of this with me.
There are still just under three weeks left in the year and I am already so very thankful for everything that this year has brought. I can only hope that 2012 shapes up to be just as good as this one.

A Long Overdue Trip Home
All this week, the main thing on my mind has been my long overdue trip back to Northern California with my girlfriend. Since graduating in May I have been one of the lucky few that secured a great job right out of college but I have found that making the adjustment from being a student and an intern to full-time member of the working world to not only be exciting but exhausting at the same time and Ive realized a trip back home is just what I need.
Its been about eleven months since my last stop in good ol’ Prunedale and I can most definitely say that this trip will be a nice change of pace from my usual commute to work and life in San Diego (even if it is only for a few days). This is the longest I have been away from my hometown and I honestly cant wait to go back and visit. I’m very excited to see my family and our dogs; not to mention some of the items on the itinerary like spending Thanksgiving with my girlfriend’s family, which will be the first time I do not spend Thanksgiving with my own folks, so it will be something new, and going to watch the San Jose Sharks crush the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night with my family. All-in-all this is shaping up to be one awesome break from the everyday-grind and a very much needed vacation.
